1966 Porsche 906

Porsche race car, originally uploaded by Caprice Photography.

The Porsche 906, also known as the Carrera 6 was a street legal race car in its production year. Its production run was very short, seeing it only in manufacturing from 1966 to 1967 where a limited number of only 61 were constructed.
Weighing in at only 580kg (1,300lb) and fitted with a 2 litre, 6 cylinder naturally aspirated engine boasting 220HP, this beast was good for a top speed of 280km/h (170mp/h) thanks to a design that was refined in a wind tunnel.
The chassis is a multi-tubular space frame and the body, with its “gull-wing” doors and Perspex cover over the mid-mount engine, is constructed from fiberglass laid on by hand in order to produce a superior finish compared to the standard method of spraying over the frame.
To purchase one of these beauties today would set you back a cool 300,000 to 450,000.
At least you’d guaranteed to get to work earlier to do the required overtime needed to pay for it!
